Replacing the Connector of a Vehicle Side 7-Way Trailer Wiring Harness on a Nissan Xterra

Question:

I have a 2011 Nissan Xterra NO factory tow package installed, but the vehicle was pre-wired with having a white plug available up and behind the diagnostic port for a brake controller using the brake controller MFGs adapter, and having the grey and black plug in ports near the drivers side rear leaf spring area. I purchased parts: 118266, 90195, 3050-P, 13514 and the receiver/ball/pin. I would like to replace the 7-way plug in head part that you attach to the bummer from part # 118266 with the Pollak 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket - Vehicle End part # HM40975. That would allow us to tow our heavy modern popup camper which uses a brake controller and 7-way plug, or tow a basis row boat or utitliy trailer that uses a 4-way flat plug and of course, no brake controller. Would replacing the 118266 head with HM40975 work on my 2011 Nissan Xterra with the setup above? Thank you

It looks like you purchased everything you need to setup a tow package on your Xterra. It is perfectly acceptable to use the Pollak 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector, # HM40975, in place of the 7-way socket that comes with the Tow Ready Custom Wiring Harness, # 118266. Both connectors use a universal connection that is commonly referred to as the U.S. car style connector. This type of connection is commonly used on domestic trucks and SUVs that come with factory tow packages as well.
