Is the Loss of Transmission Fluid Normal During Transmission Cooler Install

Question:

In your video for the 2006 Honda Odyssey at approx. 2:35, you remove the return line hose and some fluid begins exiting the hose. Is this fluid actually flowing from the transmission or is it just residual drippage from the hose? I assume it is just residual because you didnt clamp the hose first. Please clarify whether or not he hose needs to be clamped prior to removal. Thanks.

Expert Reply:

When you install a transmission cooler in a vehicle there will be a bit of transmission fluid in the lines so when you disconnect the lines there will be some that drips out. It won't drain all of the transmission fluid out but some will escape. It's nothing to worry about as long as you top the fluid off after you complete the install.
