Trailer hitch Mount Bike Rack for 2015 Honda CR-V and Biria Easy Boarder Bike

Question:

What type of bike rack would you recommend for a Biria easy boarder bike. I was looking at the saris freedom 2, the swagman, and Thule helium. I have a 2 inch Curt Class III hitch on my 2015 Honda CR-V. I prefer a lighter platform rack since I will be installing it by myself. Please advise.

I looked up the Biria Easy Boarder line of bikes. There are several different models in that line. The regular bikes (non-electric) weigh anywhere from 30 to 34 pounds which is within the range of nearly all carriers. But if you have an electric model then it will be heavier (the weight was not provided on the manufacturers page) and you would need a specific rack for that.

For any of the regular bike models a platform style carrier can be used put with the low step through frame of those bikes you would have to use an adapter bar, # 64005. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works (on a hanging bike rack). Basically for a platform style rack it would be needed so the center hooks have something to grab onto.

The most popular platform bike carrier we have is the Swagman XTC-2, # S64670. It weighs about 30 pounds and holds 2 bikes. I have included a link to a video review of this carrier for you.

But if you have the electric version of the bike then you would need Hollywood Racks Sport Rider # HR1450E for electric bikes with an 80 pound capacity per bike. This rack is overbuilt to handle more weight so it weighs more than similar racks at over 60 pounds. I have linked a video of this carrier as well.

The Saris Freedom # SA4412B would not work because the center clamps would have nothing to clamp onto given the unique shape of the frame and the step-through design.

You mentioned that you have the Curt Class III trailer hitch. Curt says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for any non-trailer load (such as a bike rack or car go carrier) per their warranty requirements.
