Towed Vehicle Has No Brake Lights On After Replacing Damaged Connector On Motorhome
Question:
I have been using the truck as a tow behind for my motorhome . It been doing fine but the connecting wire from the motor home to my f150 fell out and was dragging for some time. The wire was severed from dragging on the pavement. I repaired the wire and added a new connector. The right and left turn work and te running lights but cant get the brake lights to work. Is the diode need to be replaced and can I just buy the diode.

The first thing I recommend is to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 and test all of the pins on the connector at the back of your motorhome. I do not think replacing the diode is going to be the issue, or you would have had issues with the turn signals as well.
If you have the ground attached to a clean, bare metal surface and do not have a current showing on the brake circuit, the harness may need to be replaced.
If you show current at the connector, the problem lies either in the adapter from the motorhome connector or in the wiring on the vehicle somewhere. Check to make sure that there are no damaged wires or signs of corrosion as that can impede the current.
I have attached a link to a helpful article you can check out that explains how to troubleshoot wiring.
