There is a way to carry bikes on your 2014 Ford Fusion but a trunk mount carrier cannot be used because the vehicle is unable to support the weight at the point where a trunk mount carrier would attach.

The safest way to carry bikes on a vehicle is with a trailer hitch and hitch mount bike rack. It is also lest costly then going with a roof rack and it is easier to load and unload bikes compared to a roof rack.

If you need to carry more than 2 bikes I recommend Curt Class II trailer hitch # C12091. I have linked a video showing how this hitch installs. Then you can add a compatible bike rack such as the Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR. It holds up to 4 bikes and includes anti-sway cradles, and the ability to fold down the mast and arms. Curt also says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for any non-trailer load (such as a bike rack or car go carrier) per their warranty requirements.

If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have to use these adapters and without them my wife's bike would be at a severe angle and I would not be able to load my son's bike at all. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
