Should Right Turn and Brake Functions be Located on the Same Wire on T-One Wiring Harness 118412

Question:

Hi! I was finally able to install this on my wifes 2008 RAV4 after waiting for winter to pass. I have a concern about why the right turn signal and brakes operate the same pin on the 4-pin harness...Is this as designed? Note: All my lights on the vehicle still works fine This is what I measured on the 4 pin harness from left to right: Gnd, running lights, left, right/brake I read customer feedback from one of your Q&A and that person stated that the RAV4 2008 passenger side has 2 identical connectors which this harness can go. I did notice there were 3 connectors on the passenger side, but did not pay attention to whether two were the same. Please let me know if Ive done something wrong, or the wire harness is defective, or if this is normal. I do have the 118412 harness. Thanks! Other than this concern, were real pleased with the hitch and harness installation!

It is the industry standard for the right turn and brake functions to be powered on the green wire on the 4-Way plug, and for the left turn and brake functions to be powered on the yellow wire on the plug. So in short, yes, your right turn and brake signals should be functioning on the same wire.

Are you actually having problems with lights not working when you connect your vehicle to your trailer? If you are, please let me know what is happening and I would be glad to help you find a solution, but if your trailer lights are functioning correctly, then you should have the # 118412 wiring harness installed correctly on your 2008 Toyota Rav4.

I have included links to the installation instructions for the wiring harness, as well as a video of the installation on a 2004 model, so you can get an up close look at where the harness should be installed.
