Recommended 5-Way Harness For 2002 Chevrolet Silverado With No 7-Way Connector

Question:

The part you recommended is for 1999 - 2013 Chevrolet Silverado with a factory 7-way connector. My 2002 does not have a factory tow package, just a basic six-wire trailer towing harness thats not terminated. Do I need to update to an underbody harness with a seven-pin universal heavy-duty trailer connector first? Do you have another a 5-pin connector that I can use with this basic wiring harness and mounting bracket?

Per our fit guide and information, the 2002 Silverado came with a factory 7-way connector at the rear of the vehicle. Since you said you do not have the 7-way, the 5-way connector will need to be hardwired.

You will need a circuit tester like part # 3808 to test the wires by function. You can enlist the help of someone to sit in the cab and run through the different functions while you find the correct wires.

I recommend the Hopkins Endurance 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector, part # HM47900. This connector has 16 gauge wire 48 inches long.
