Finding Correct Grease Seal for 2001 EZ Loader Trailer
Question:
Hello, I have a 2001 ez loader trailer duel axle with disc brakes on the rear axle. The grease seal is leaking and I would like to replace it. I measured the ID of the seal and it is 1.7235, the OD of the seal is 2.3030. The spindle is diameter 1.687. I have tried to find information using the VIN number and ez loader does not recognize it. The hub has H1377 I04A.

I ran through our selection of grease seals, and wasn't able to find anything that matched your measurements closely enough that I'd be comfortable recommending it. Unfortunately, the numbers you kindly provided didn't lead me to a replacement seal (yet).
The most accurate way to get the seal ID is to measure the surface of the spindle that the seal rides on, because as the rubber on the seal gets worn, its diameter can change. The most reliable way to obtain the OD of the seal is to obtain the reference number of the inner bearing. With the reference number for the inner bearing known, we can easily find the related race. The outside diameter of the race will be equal to the OD of the seal.
If you can clarify the diameter of the spindle where the seal rides and the inner bearing reference number, I'd be happy to look into it further for you.
