Heavy Duty Roof Rack and Large Capacity Roof Cargo Box for 2006 Chevy Silverado

Question:

I have a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Extended cab pick-up LT model and i am looking to purchase the Thule Motion TH629906 box and I need to know which would be the best and sturdiest roof rack system I would need. It will be carrying capacity all the time and lots of miles in all types of weather conditions.

We offer roof racks from Thule, Rhino Rack and Yakima for your 2006 Silverado.

Of the three, the Yakima rack would offer the highest weight rating, at 165 lbs. Be aware that although the rack's capacity is 165, you'll be limited to the weight capacity of the roof, if it's less than 165 lbs. Your owner's manual should list the roof capacity, or you can contact GM.

The Yakima rack would consist of the following parts:

Yakima 58 inch crossbars, part # Y00409
Q Towers, part # Y00124
Vehicle Specific Q Clips, part Y00709 (order two of these)

The Thule Motion cargo box # TH629906 you referenced is the largest roof mounted cargo box we offer.
