Yes, the Curt Class III round tube receiver hitch # 13534 will allow a full size spare tire on your 2012 Toyota Highlander.
If you plan on doing any towing, the custom wiring is # C56217 or # 56042 with existing factory tow package. A ball mount kit like # 989891 will included a 1-7/8 and 2-inch hitch balls, ball mount with 3/4 inch rise and 2-inch drop, pin and clip and a storage bag.
