Time-Delayed Brake Controller Recommendation for 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with Tow Package

Question:

We have a brand new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland and tow a light-weight R-Pod trailer about 7-10 times a year. Each trip is roughly 8 hours of total towing. What would you recommend as a good Time-Delayed Brake Controller for us to purchase along with any other pieces needed for installation. As well, I hate the thought of drilling into this vehicles dash. Is there any way to install these Time-Delayed Brake Controllers using something other than screws? Id like to remove this when not towing - as it can be in the way of my wife when driving - and she has the seat all the way forward. I hate the thought of having holes visible in this nice looking vehicle that Jeep designed. I appreciate your thoughts.

Time-delayed type brake controllers offer the convenience of more flexible mounting positions than do the generally better-performing proportional type, but proportional types will do a better job of stopping the trailer in unison with the Grand Cherokee. Proportional brake controllers also offer the benefit of reducing wear on both the trailer's and the vehicle's brakes. More info on this is included in the linked article on brake controllers.

No one wants to drill holes in a new vehicle so I feel your pain on that! You must keep in mind that you ALWAYS need ready access to the controller for emergencies so it needs to be handy. One thing I can offer is that you might use a heavy-duty hook-and-loop type fastener. These typically have strong adhesive on the backs that will be enough to hold the controller without need to drill. In the event that you want to completely remove the controller a gentle solvent will remove any glue residue.

A popular time-delayed controller that is highly rated by our customers is the Curt Venturer # C74VV that you referenced.
