Expert Reply:
For your 1997 Mercury Sable Wagon, the wiring harness you need is part # C55343.
This harness plugs directly into the Sable wiring with no cutting or splicing. You simply plug it into the connection points behind the tail lights on your vehicle. You will need to remove the tail light assemblies to access the plug-in harness.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
