Should the Coils Be Removed to Install the AirLift 1000 Drag Bags # AL60844

Question:

Hello! I purchased airlift part number 60844 for my 1970 Buick Skylark. I am replacing the Buicks original springs with new front and rear coil springs and have a similar question: do the coil springs need to be removed before the airlift is installed? If so I will have the mechanic who is replacing the coil springs do the airlift package at the same time otherwise I would have liked to do it myself install the airlift. I am hoping the airlift will give my Beauwyck a slightly higher look in the rear so I asked to give it that musclecar look! Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated thank you,

If you plan on having the springs replaced on your 1970 Buick Skylark that would be the ideal time to also install the Air Lift AirLift 1000 Drag Bags # AL60844. It can be possible to install these air bags with the spring still in the car, but I would be MUCH easier to do it with the coils off of the car.

I have installed these in a couple vehicles now and ended up taking the coils out to make the job easier. Trying to install them with the coils still in the car can be pretty difficult.

Adding air pressure to these bags will cause the rear of the vehicle to raise slightly, but will also make the rear suspension feel pretty harsh since this would require a decent amount of air pressure. Your best option would be to go with a heavier coil spring.
