1995 K2500 Brake Controller Recommendation and Installation

Question:

Ive been told this truck is already pre-wiredinch for a brake controller. While its not a simple plug-n-play type install no harness adapter used, I was told to look for two pre-existing wires coming from the underside of the wiring harness at the fuse block under the hood. Was also instructed to look for pre-existing wires at the back of the truck for power to the plug. Is this correct? If so, any ideas what color-scheme the wires would be?

That we are aware of there are no prewired harnesses or adapters available for your 1995 K2500 truck. I have a solution for you that won't require you to try and track down any wire colors though.

You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 18252.

From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.

If you wanted to use the factory wiring option there will be a blue and orange wire that terminate on the driver's side frame rail just behind the rear wheel. At the front of the vehicle these terminate under the brake booster in the engine bay. The orange would be for 12 volt power and blue for brake output. Blue would need to get run to the brake output of the brake controller you install and the orange to the positive post of vehicle battery through circuit breaker like part # 9510.
