Question:

Will this item fit folded up on a 2009 Nissan Xterra. I have a 2 receiver so that is not a problem but dont know if it will be able to be secured in the folded upright position.

You are correct, it does fit your 2 inch receiver. There is a critical measurement you would need to make to see if the etrailer.com Hitch Cargo Carrier, # e98874, will work in the folded upright position on your 2009 Nissan Xterra.

Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the rear edge of the vehicle, if the distance is less than 9-1/2 inches than it will work folded.

The carrier measures 10-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to carrier railing when folded up.
