Changing a 7-Way Trailer Side Connector to a 4-Way Trailer Connector

Question:

i bought a Hopkins 4 Way Flat Connector and need to change out the 7 way that is on my small camper does not have power brakes on it. Am I okay to simply splice the wires on both sides and connect the matching colors? Will obviously tape off the unused electric brakes, 12 volt, and referse lights. Just wanted to make sure this is okay to do before I start cutting :-

Helpful Expert Reply:

Yes, you can just remove the wires from the trailer's existing connector and attach them to the new 4-Way, # HM48110. Taping off the unused wires will be fine just make sure they are secured so they are not flapping around loose.

On the harness the white striped wire is ground, brown is running lights, yellow is left turn/brake lights, and green is right turn/brake lights.
