Parts Needed to Tow a 2012 Jeep Wrangler with Rock Crawler Bumper Behind a Motor Home

Question:

I have a jeep with a Rock Krawler 2.5 long arm with 35 in tires. I have an aftermarket front bumper and skid plate. Is there an of the shelf system that can accommodate this setup.

If that aftermarket bumper is a Warn Rock Crawler number 74255 then yes, there are some base plates that will fit! Or if it is a Warn/Mopar bumper, part numbers 82211715, 82211715AB or 82209740AD & skid plate part numbers 82210401 or 82210401AB then we have some fits as well.

For the first one, 74255, you can use # 1438-3. This bracket fits Wranglers with grille guard 74256, skid plate 74570, and winch mount plate 74950 or 74955. For the second set you can use # 1430-1.

For a compatible tow bar I recommend the Flacon 2, # RM-520 rated for 6,000 pounds. I have linked a video review for you. For safety cables use # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground.

For lighting our installers here prefer to use the bulb and socket kit # RM-155. I have included a link to a video showing how they install.

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the preferred systems for our installers is the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO proportional system, # SM99251. It will apply the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

I have also included 2 helpful links to our help articles on flat towing for you.
