Installing a Hydraulic Actuator that is Compatible with Drum Brakes

Question:

I bought 2 large Brent farm wagons and they have drum brakes on the rear axle. The surge controllers were on the tongues. 1 the surge brake control is gone and the other is in bad shape. Can I take a HBA-10 controller and mount it on the side of the frame and run the brake lines to the brakes and then get a pendulum controller and mount inside of a water proof box and run the power to the controller off of the clearance lights for the wagon thus powering the unit when the lights would be on in use? I would like to know if this will work or do you have a better way to get the brakes to work. Thank You

Since your trailer has drum brakes, the electric over hydraulic actuator # HBA-10 will work as it will take in the signal from a brake controller and generate pressure to operate your drum brakes. You will install the actuator on the trailer tongue.

The brake controller that you use must be compatible with electric over hydraulic brakes.

If you do not already have a brake controller that is compatible with electric over hydraulic braking systems, I recommend the Prodigy P2, # 90885. It is a very reliable controller that is very user friendly. You will need to install this inside the cab of your truck and must be wired to a 12-volt battery.

I included a couple informative articles about installing a brake controller for you. If you have any additional questions, please let me know and I would be more than happy to help.
