Will Saris Hitch Lock # SA3022 Fit Highland SportWing Hitch-Mount Bike Rack # 5801200

Question:

Saris lock is designed for hitch accessories with THREADED holes. Im thinking of purchasing the Highland Sportwing Bike Rack. Its HOLES arent threaded, but the Highland attachment bold has a threaded END: slide bolt through and then tighten the threaded end down with nut and washer. I like the anti-rattle benefit of tightening down. The Saris bold is threaded at its BEGINNING, and the threading continues about half way down the bolts shaft. If the threaded portion is long enough, I can push it through and have enough thread sticking out the other end to still secure with a nut and washer before slipping on the Saris lock. So, how long is the threaded potion of the Saris bolt? My hitch is 1.25. Is the threaded portion long enough to go through the hitch and then stick out the other end, with enough sticking out to accept a nut and washer? Will this lock work for me?

The Saris Hitch Tite Threaded Anti-Rattle Lock # SA3022 is designed primarily for use on their own bike carriers and has not been tested with the Highland SportWing rack. However, since you prefer a wheel-mount carrier I can suggest the Curt # C18085, which can be fitted with an anti-rattle hitch lock # SHP2082. This combination will actually save you a few dollars as compared to the Saris/Highland combination.

We also offer bike cable lock # e98891.
