What are the Custom Vehicle Trailer Wiring Options for a 2007 Ford Escape

im looking to hook up a trailer light kit for my 2007 ford escape.Im looking at the Hopkins / Trailer Wire Connector Part Number: 40455. if i install this will is there a complete circuit for the connector or do i need a relay or fuse. and if so how do i go about installing it. thanks

The Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 40455, will fit your 2007 Ford Escape if it has a factory installed tow package. If you are not sure, look for the connector behind the bumper near the drivers side taillight. The factory tow packet is already wired properly so you will not need to add any fuses, converters, or relays. If you cannot find the connector there, or anywhere else, chances are you do not have the factory tow package. If there is a connector, you should check to make sure it functions. You can use a circuit tester like the Quickee # 3808 to check for taillights, stop, and turn signals.

If you do not have a connector, you will need Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118426. This is a T-one style harness that plugs in line with your vehicles wiring. It has a powered converter that requires a direct connection to the vehicles battery.
