Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan and Why Does Curt Require Stabilization Strap
Question:
Why does the Curt hitch require a stabilization strap for hitch mounted bike racks but draw tite and others do not.

It just happens to be Curt's policy for all Class I and II hitches and any higher Class hitch that is not rated for use with weight distribution. The etrailer Hitch does not have this same policy and thus the stabilization strap does not have to be used for non-trailer loads such as bike racks or cargo carriers.
If you want to avoid using the strap, then I would go with etrailer trailer hitch # e98906. I have linked a video showing how the hitch installs.
f you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
For trailer wiring you can use # CU26FR.
