Replacement Brake Assembly 1995 Jayco 3430 RK Fifth Wheel Trailer

Question:

I have a 1995 Jayco 3430 RK fifth wheel. It has Dexter 5,200 lbs axles, and Dexter 6 lug 5 1/2 hub stamped 8-201.inch I need to replace the brake assemblies. They use a five bolt flange to the axle. Will the product code 23-106 work on my trailer? I notice that it is rated for 6,000 lbs instead of the 5,200 I have.

In order to pick out the correct brake assembly for your trailer you will need to remove your current hubs and determine what hubs you currently have so that the correct replacement can be picked out.

You will want to measure across from the outer surface of one brake shoe to the other shoe and then measure the width of the shoe. Part # 23-106 you referenced is a 12 x 2 inch assembly.

You will also need to look at how the assembly attaches to the axle. According to your question the hub has a 5 bolt pattern. Part # 23-106 will have a 5 bolt pattern.

A 5200 lbs axle is a de-rated 6000 lbs axle, that almost certainly uses a 12x2 brake assembly. That being the case the assembly I recommend is the Nev-R-Adjust Electric Brake Assembly for 6K Axles # 23-459 for right hand and # 23-458 for left hand.
