Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer Using a Gooseneck Trailer Hitch

Question:

We have recently purchased a used 2014 Rockwood fifth wheel RV trailer and we want to replace the existing fifth wheel hitch with the goose box. My brother has recently put one on his trailer is very happy with it. The model number to ours is 8281WS. The business we purchased it from, Explorer USA, told us that the goose box is not available for this particular trailer. Can you help us???

Does your truck currently have a gooseneck hitch instead of a 5th wheel hitch? The only reason to use a Goose Box would be if you needed to tow a 5th wheel trailer using a gooseneck hitch. If that is the case then a Goose Box could work, but there are only 3 different Goose Box models available. Since your model pin box is not listed you would have to take some measurements, see link on measuring a pin box. Then with those measurements I can determine if any of the Goose Boxes will fit.

In the event that none of the Goose Box models fit there are other options. For a cushioned adapter you could use # CAB-C5G. I have included a link to a video review of this adapter for you.

For a non-cushioned option that is compatible with any brand 2-5/16 inch gooseneck ball you can use the Andersen Ranch Hitch, # AM3100. I have linked a video review of this adapter as well.
