Installing a P2 Brake Controller on a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

The P2 brake controller, # 90885, and most brake controllers have 4 wires: white is ground, black is 12 volt power, blue is output to the trailer brakes, and red is input from the brake switch.
You will need additional wire to make the connections when hardwiring in the brake controller to your 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. But if your Ram has a factory installed 7-Way and the connector under the dash to plug in a brake controller, which is what it sounds like, then you would just need harness # 3020-P. I have linked a video that should also help.
