Recommended Brake Controller, Trailer Hitch 2015 Ford Escape SE

Question:

I will be getting a hitch from you for my 2015 Ford Escape SE. I have a 1997 Coleman/Fleetwood Key West pop up that has a round plug for the light connection. The camper also has brakes that I would like to hook up, so 1. What type of wiring do I need for this round plug on the vehicle side 2. What type of brake controller do I need 3. Do you have a recommended hitch receiver so the camper is level when hitched up to the Escape

It sounds like your 2015 Ford Escape has the factory tow package wiring. For a brake controller, I recommend the Prodigy Brake Controller part # 90885, one of our most popular models. All you need to install this brake controller in your new Escape is harness # 3035-P. One end of this harness will plug into the back of the controller and the other will plug into the connection point by the steering column under the dash.

For a trailer hitch I recommend Draw Tite Trailer Hitch part # 75758, which is our most popular hitch. Since you plan on doing some towing you may be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow your popup camper trailer, use the link I have included to the right that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the camper level.

And for trailer wiring you can use # 118566. I have linked a video of the wiring installation as well.
