Roof Rack, Bike Rack And Kayak Carrier Recommendations For 2008 Scion xB
Question:
Sorry for the delay and I appreciate the detailed response. The Scion currently has nothing on the roof. Does this rack require any kind of drilling? How many bikes would I be able to carry?

If your 2008 Scion xB has no rails or crossbars I recommend the Rhino-Rack Vortex roof rack system.
This roof rack features the low profile aerodynamic aluminum crossbars with the rubberized Vortex strips in the channel that help disrupt the airflow for a quieter ride. To order this roof rack you will need part # RRVA137B-2, part # RRRLKVA, and part # DK152. If you prefer Black crossbars you can order part # RRVA137B-2.
The bike rack I recommend for this roof rack is the SQR Quick-Release Rooftop Bike Carrier, part # RBC012. This is a fork-mount bike rack that includes a quick release skewer for easy loading and unloading. The rack also features a sliding rear wheel holder to accommodate bikes of different sizes.
For a tandem bike to be carried on your xB I recommend the Rhino-Rack MountainTrail Rooftop Bike Carrier, part # RBC035. This bike rack will accommodate almost any length or style bike and can handle wheels up to 3 inches diameter.
For a kayak carrier I recommend the Rhino-Rack Nautic Roof Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs, part # RR570. This carrier has pivoting heads that allows one person to be able to load a kayak from the side of the vehicle. This carrier comes with both front and rear tie-downs.
You will want to check your owner's manual or with your dealership to make sure you do not exceed the roof weight capacity for your Scion.
