Transmission Cooler and Fan Recommendation for a 2010 Nissan Titan SE Towing Travel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2010 Nissan Titan SE, 4 WD, equipped with factory tow package. Rated to tow 9,300 lbs. Travel trailer weighs about 7,000 completely loaded. Truck transmission heats up, according to tranny temp gauge, when back trailer into campsites. Nissan dealer says theres nothing they can do and that installing an additional tranny cooler and/or fan will not make a difference. Theyve also said a larger oil pan wont help. I fail to grasp why a truck that is rated to tow 9,300 pounds cannot because you cant back into campsites. Im considering an additional tranny cooler i.e. Derale and a fan perhpaps one that kicks in when necessary but not running all the time that will push air through the cooler from the front. Which cooler and fan would you suggest for this application? Any advice, help, assistance even encouragement would be appreciated. Thank you.

A supplemental transmission cooler would absolutely help keep your transmission fluid temperatures down on your 2010 Nissan Titan. Since the heat issue you described is when you are backing your trailer up your best option would be a cooler with a fan since there would be limited air flow while in reverse at slow speeds.

Another great thing about the coolers with fans is that you can basically mount them wherever you want since the fan provides all the airflow needed. For that I would recommend the part # D12743 because it has a large cooler with a fan that can flow plenty of air to keep the fluid cool. For a thermostat you would then also want the part # D16735 that kicks on at 180 degrees and turns off at 165 degrees.
