Wiring 1994 Dodge Dakota SLT V8 for Towing Coleman Mesa Trailer with Electric Brakes
Question:
I have a 1994 Dodge Dakota SLT V8 that does not have a tow package. I am wanting to tow a popup camper 1999 Coleman Mesa and would like to know how to rig the vehicle myself. I already have a 4 way harness installed but need the kit for a 7 pin connector and break controler for the camper to plug into.

We've got just what you need to ready your Dakota for towing your Coleman Mesa pop-up camper. Since you already have a working 4-pole wiring harness installed you'll just need to select a brake controller and an installation kit to convert your 4-pole to the required 7-way.
For a brake controller its easy to recommend the popular and reliable Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. Yes, there are less costly units available, but the P2 offers excellent user-friendly features like built-in diagnostics, compatibility with both electric and electric-over-hydraulic brakes and easy set-up. Plus it is protected by a limited lifetime warranty.
The install kit # ETBC7 includes everything else you'll need for a hard-wired installation: the 7-way, wiring, connectors, circuit breakers - even a circuit tester and wire loom - to complete your install. I have linked for you a video and an article covering installation of the kit.
