Can Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-2 Be Used with Bike Rack and Towbar

Question:

I have your Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack on the back of my small element tow car, my RV has your RM-048-4 Roadmaster High-Low Hitch Adapter, with a blue ox aventa towbar attached to it. All are 10,000 lb rated, I want to put the swagman bike rack on my rv, Can I used the RM-077-2 for both the blue ox aventa and the swagman bike rack above?

Yes, the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-2 can be used simultaneously with both a hitch-mount bike rack in the upper receiver and a tow bar in the lower receiver to flat tow your dinghy.

However, the Swagman XC 2-Bike Platform Style Rack # S64650 cannot be used on the rear of your RV. Bike racks that are to be used on motorhomes and RVs must be built specially to withstand the vertical and lateral forces found at the rear of such vehicles. In the same way that a seat in the rear of a school bus or roller coaster will get a rougher ride than ones up front, a bike rack mounted at the rear of an RV will have to endure more stress than if it were installed in a hitch on a passenger car. A standard bike rack could literally be destroyed if used on the back of a motorhome.

We do offer RV-approved hitch-mount (and other) bike racks that you can use. The included link will show you various hitch-mount rack options in 3- and 4-bike capacities. A cost-effective option from Swagman is their Original 3 Bike Rack # S64152-2. If you wish to lock the carrier you can use Swagman's Locking Anti-Rattle Threaded Hitch Pin # S64027.

If any of the bikes do not have a horizontal top frame tube as found on a typical man's bike, then you might benefit from using a bike adapter bar, such as the Swagman Easy Out # 64005, which connects between the seat and handlebar posts to provide a level mounting surface to mate with the carrier.
