Ideally, you want the Total Tongue Weight of the trailer (TTW, which includes the fully loaded and ready to tow trailer plus the weight of any gear in the truck bed behind the rear axle) to fall as close as possible to the middle of the effective range of the weight distribution system you choose.

So a system like the Reese Weight Distribution System, part # RP66541, would be an excellent choice as it has a tongue weight range of 400-800 lbs. This system has an easy-to-adjust, forged head, a raised ball platform, and flexible, powder coated steel, trunnion spring bars. An adjustable shank is included. For a hitch ball you will want # A-90 for a 2" diameter ball or # 19286 for a 2-5/16" diameter ball.

I also attached a couple of FAQ articles on WD systems and a video review for you to check out.
