To install a 7-way on your 2005 Honda Pilot, you will need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller, # ETBC7. This kit includes everything needed to install a brake controller besides the controller itself. For that I recommend going with the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller, # 90885, because it is highly rated by our customers and is a proven performer. The P2 is easy to set up and includes features like built-in diagnostics, auto-leveling and the flexibility to be used with either electric or electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes.

Now for installation. You asked if it is an easy job. This is going to depend on your mechanical ability. I have included an installation video which shows all of the steps to installing the 7-way as well as the brake controller. After taking a look at the video, I think that you will be able to determine if this is a task that you want to take on yourself.

Additional parts used in the installation video include:
No-Drill Mount Bracket, # C57202
Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors, # 11755
Metal Loom Clamp, # A0500
