The Draw-Tite Fold Down Gooseneck Hitch Installation Template, part # 6425 is listed as an essential tool when installing a Draw-Tite, Reese and Hidden Hitch Fold Down Gooseneck Hitch like part # 8339-4437 for your 2006 ford F-150.
Even though it is not required, it will remove the guesswork when installing a gooseneck in the bed of your truck. I would recommend it just for peace of mind. When installing the hitch you want to make sure everything is lined up just right so there will be no issues.
I have attached a link to an installation video on a 2005 F-150 that shows how the 6425 template is used when installing a gooseneck hitch. You can check out the video at the 3:47 mark to see how the template is used.
