Recommended Roof Rack And Ski Carrier For 2015 Subaru Forester

Question:

Hi there, I have a 2015 Subaru Forester with a Moon Roof/fixed mounting points and would like to install ski racks on the car however am completely confused as to options! Our criteria is: 1. Price is not the primary concern - please note we dont want to spend money for moneys sake, however we want the right solution! 2. My wife is relatively! short and wants to be able to load the skis on without need of a step/ladder - if there is a solution that allows this, please let us know 3. I would like the crossbars to be as slim/discrete as possible - both from a wind resistance as well as aesthetic reasons 4. Car is black, if we can get the bars/rails in black that is a nice bonus 5. Capacity for 4 sets of skis and poles - no snowboards If there is anything else you need to help us decide that would be great - if you could send through a couple of options I would be really appreciative! Thanks

We do have some options that will work well for your 2015 Subaru Forester.

Since you have fixed mounting points on your Forester I recommend the Thule AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack. Your roof will have fixed mounting points and this roof rack system is designed to use those fixed points for mounting. This is a low profile aerodynamic roof rack that is a black anodized aluminum which is rust resistant and durable as well as extremely quiet. For this roof rack you need to order part # TH7602B-TH7602B, and part # THKIT3079.

If you have the factory raised side rails on your Forester I recommend the Thule AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack for Factory Side Rails. This also features the black anodized aluminum crossbars and attaches to the side rails on your roof. To order this system you will need part # TH7502B-TH7502B.

For a ski carrier I recommend the Thule Ski and Snowboard Carrier, part # TH7324B. This carrier will hold up to 6 pairs of skis and has heavy duty locks included to help deter theft. It also allows you to carry up to 4 pairs of skis.

With the low profile of the roof rack you will not want to open the moon roof on your Forester. Even if it does clear the crossbar, any items placed on the roof of the vehicle do create noise.

Unfortunately, we do not offer a carrier that would allow the ski rack to be mounted lower to accommodate the reach for your wife. You said you do not want a step or ladder but we do offer a tire step that is very popular. The Wheel Mount Tire Step, part # HE4040 slips over the tire and helps when you need to reach the center of the roof on a tall vehicle. This folds flat for easy storage when not in use.
