Any Trimming Required for Trailer Hitches on a 2010 Toyota Highlander and Accessories Needed
Question:
Hi. have a 2010 toyota highlander and wanted to add a hitch. I noticed that some hitches go trough the rear bumper on the center part. My highlander does not have a hole nor the possibility of making a hole on the center of the bumper. Do the hitches you sell stick out the center of the bumper or do they come out under the bumper. thanks

I would recommend the Curt Class III hitch, part # 13534. The hitch does not require any fascia trimming, but you will have to trim some of the under-body panels in order to re-install them after the hitch is in place. None of the trimmed areas will be visible from behind the vehicle. I have produced a photo for you that shows the areas that will need to be trimmed. The face of the receiver will not extend past the furthest rearward portion of the bumper.
To complete your towing package, I recommend adding wiring, a ball mount, ball, and locking hitch pin. For wiring, you will need T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118449. This harness plugs in line with your vehicles taillights and provides a 4 pole connection at the rear of the vehicle. I have included a link to the instructions and a video of the installation below.
For a ball mount, I recommend # C45010. For hitch balls, we have # 19260 (1-7/8 inch), # 63845 (2 inch), and # 63847 (2-5/16 inch) depending on what size you might need. Finally, for a locking hitch pin, I recommend the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, # e98880. I have included a video review of this lock below.
