Can a Reese RP30051 Hitch and Install Kit from a Ford F-250 Be Used on a 2004 Chevy Silverado 3500HD
Question:
I want to transfer a 30051 with the rail kit from a F 250 to a Chevy 3500 silverado. Can this be accomplished with the kit that I have? The 250 was totalled without the hitch being installed. The replacement truck is the 3500.

If you purchased a universal Reese fifth wheel install kit like part # RP30035, you can use all the parts you currently have.
If you had purchased a custom fit kit for the F-250, you will be able to use the hitch and the rails, but you will need a different set of frame brackets. For a 2004 Chevy Silverado you would use bracket part # RP50064. These brackets are custom fit for your specific truck so the install time is cut nearly in half. If you have the short bed model, you will not have to drill any holes in the frame with these brackets. If you have a full 8 foot bed, you will need to drill one hole. The Reese rails that you already will attach to these brackets through the bed and the Reese 30051 hitch will drop into the rails.
I have included a link to a video of the 50041 brackets being installed as well as the instructions for them and the rails you currently have.
