Largest Cargo Box for a 2013 Lincoln Navigator

Question:

We have a 2013 lincoln navigator and need a large sturdy cargo box for winter sporting trips. Im mostly concerned about material strength and durability, box staying closed at high speed location and number of latches and box staying secured to roof. Looking at high capacity cargo boxes in the 20-21 cubic ft like thule xl 636, rhino and Yakima. Which box is the best?

First, in terms of boxes staying closed at high speeds you would not have to worry about any of the boxes opening up. Boxes made now are very secure and provided you have the box lid closed and locked there isn't really any way it could open while driving.

For material and construction the Thule and Yakima boxes are pretty much the best in the market. Thule does have a more advanced hierarchy in terms of a good, better, best type of product line.

The largest box we have in terms of cubic feet is going to be a Thule Motion XL, # TH629906 at 22 cubic feet. What counts on this box is the shape which reduces drag on the box, the rigid supports in it that help to prevent the lid from contorting, and the 5-layer of ABS plastic capped with acrylic the box is made of. It is a tough box for sure.
