Can I Tow a Trailer with the Slider Hitch Close to Tailgate With Cargo in Bed of Truck

Question:

I am sure this is not recommended, but can you safely tow your trailer with the slide hitch slid back? Once in awhile I would like more room to haul something in the bed of my pick up in front of the trailer

A slider hitch like the Reese # RP30051 will move the hitch and king pin 10 inches closer to the tailgate to increase your turning clearance.

Unfortunately, you cannot tow with your slider hitch slid back because it's for tight maneuvers only. The hitch is positioned so that the pin weight of your trailer is directly above or slightly forward of the rear axle. Behind that point, the capacity of the truck is lower and it can also unweight the front of your truck which will cause braking and steering problems. Also, it will point your headlights higher.

I included a helpful article and video review for you too.
