Replacement 3500 lb Axle for 5x12 Single Axle Utility Trailer

Question:

I need a 3500# axle/hubs/springs etc. for a 5x12 single axle utility trailer. I havent checked on tubing locally yet and want to know if there is anything special to look for besides 2-3/8inch O.D. tubing? Open to your recommendations on spindles, hubs, etc. Thanks!

Rather than trying to assemble axles from tubing and spindles, I'd highly recommend you go with a manufactured axle. Having a manufactured axle will provide you with a known weight capacity.
Welding spindles to an axle tube is a very specialized skill that shouldn't be farmed out to that dude down the street who knows how to stick things together. 2-3/8 inches is the typical OD of axle tube for a 3500 lb axle.

We offer some stock off the shelf axles in a 3500 lb capacity. The axles have a hub face to hub face dimension of 89 inches and a spring center to spring center dimension of 74 inches. You can measure your existing axle to see if this is a fit. I'll provide a diagram showing where to take the measurements.
