Will Air Suspension Work For 2012 Ford F-250 With Lift Kit When Towing Fifth Wheel Trailer

Question:

This may be an out of the ordinary question but its been coming up more and more as people are putting lifts on trucks but still use 5th wheels to hit the wilderness on the weekends. My question is this, I would like to put a 4.5in lift on my 2012 f250 and 35in tires, thats adding around 5 to 6inches of total lift, I dont think my 2005 cedar creek 5th wheel will fit due to the different stance inclined sit. I have heard of axle flipping but im not sure this is the best way to go about doing this, is there an option maybe an airbag suspension system that I can get installed to add the clearance from the 5th wheel to the truck and when Its parked I can let it down? any suggestions are welcome, thanks for your time...

To safely tow your trailer I recommend you do not install the lift kit on your 2012 Ford F-250.

Trucks with a lift kit tend to pose a very tough challenge for towing. We do not offer any sort of adapter/kit to raise the height of the 5th wheel hitch in your truck bed. An air suspension kit would not be the answer to leveling your fifth wheel with a lifted truck.

Options would be to raise the hitch head to its highest position and if it still does not allow your trailer to clear the bed rails, you would be really limited.

You can try adjusting your pin box to its lowest possible mounting position. You will want to contact your trailer/pin box manufacturer to see if this is an option.

You could install an over-under axle conversion on your trailer. Which you should also check with the manufacturer to see if this can be done.

These are really not good options because you will raise the center of gravity on your trailer, and could create an unstable ride.
