B and W Slider Hitch Recommendation for a 2014 Ram Short Bed with B and W Turnover Hitch
Question:
I have the above tuck. 2014 Ram mega cab 64 bed, has B &W hitch. The Band w gooseneck hitch is mounted directly over the axle but I am concerned about tight turns. Leaning more towards the slider fifth wheel mounts but saw the off set goose neck conversion kit available which would be easier to use. I have two questions: 1. Isnt it best when possible to try and maintain the trailer kingpin over the axle as much as possible? 2. If using a sliding fifth wheel hitch is it only allowed to slide when going very slow such as in campgrounds? I saw a rig on a city street and the driver made two right angle turns and the slide activated. I am assuming he towed that way all the time. Pulling a 28 ft w two pop outs. Thanks

Since you have a shortbed 2014 Ram you will want the slider fifth wheel hitch so that you can make sharp turns. For that part # BWRVK3400-5W would be what you want.
When traveling at low speeds where you need to make tight turns you will want to have the hitch slid back for better turning clearance. Once you get out of the parking lot you will want to have the hitch slid back forward so that the weight of the trailer is above the axle and not behind it. At slower speeds having the hitch slid back is okay, but once you get going faster you will need the weight above the rear axle and not behind it so that if in an emergency situation you could stop/turn as quickly as possible.
