Recommended Winch to Pull Firewood on a Sled Up a Small Incline

Question:

Hey there Im looking for a winch to give me a hand moving some firewood. My pile is down my steps and down a small incline and is about 25 feet from the house. My idea is that I can load a sled with my split wood and use the winch to bring it up and onto the deck, thereby saving my back and my wife will be able to help also. Will the 2000 lbs be up to it? I was thinking of using my trolling motor battery from my boat to power it. Thoughts? Thanks!

The 2000 lb capacity Bulldog Winch Utility Winch # BDW15008 referenced will work for pulling firewood up a small incline, but it has a line speed of 3 feet per minute, and it doesn't have a load bearing brake. A better option for you is a higher capacity winch with the load bearing brake since you will be on an incline. I recommend the Bulldog Winch Trailer Winch # BDW15019 which has a line speed of 4-1/2 feet per minute at max load which you will be no where near so it will be a much faster option.

In order to power your winch, the trolling motor battery must have a least 650 cold-cranking amps.

I have included a couple FAQ's for you too.
