Can a Transmission Cooler Like Derale # D13101 Be Used to Cool Engine Oil
Question:
Is this radiator can be used as an engine oil cooler?

Expert Reply:
Engine fluid coolers are not vehicle-specific nor are they fluid-specific. Any given cooler could be used to cool power steering fluid, transmission fluid or engine oil. The factor to consider is the required fittings to install a cooler for a given application. Transmission, engine oil and power steering fittings vary. As long as you have the correct adapters/fittings to connect a cooler to its fluid circuit you could use just about any cooler to good effect to reduce the fluid's operating temperature.
I have linked for your a series of articles concerning transmission and oil coolers that will give you excellent background on the types, their advantages and installation guidance.
