Could you tell me what is the distance between the center point on the bolt slots of the mounting plate? Im wondering if I can use U-bolts to clamp this to the 2in square tongue of my trailer. Thank you

I pulled one of the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winches, part # Dl15440 from our warehouse and took the measurements you asked about. I have also attached a photo of the winch with the dimensions you can check out.

This is a 3,200 lb 2-speed direct drive winch. I have attached a product review video you can take a look at.

The base on 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch #315-W2500D measures 5-3/4 inches wide by 7-1/8 inches long. I have included a picture showing this for you and a link to a video review on this winch.

Yes the bolt pattern of the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch #DL15440 is close enough to the Shelby you mentioned that it would easily fit in place of it.
