Why Is Separate Power Wire Required For Trailer Harness On 2010 Toyota RAV4
Question:
I have your product for my 2010 Toyota Rav4. Is itabsolutely necessary to run the 12v wire to the engine compartment? If 12v is needed, cant I use the 12v accessory plug in the rear of the vehicle?

Expert Reply:
Because of the amperage draw for the wiring harness like part # 118412 or part # C56165 for your 2010 Toyota RAV4, a separate wire is necessary because many of the wires on other circuits are unable to handle the draw.
Attaching the wire harness power lead to one of the other wires might cause damage to the vehicle electrical system.
