Timbren Trailer Suspension Installation for Trailer with Narrow U-Bolt Plate

Question:

According to the instructions, for trailers there should be no gap between the rubber and the axle. However, the space between the U-Bolts on the axle surface is only 2 inches, while the bottom of the rubber enhancer is about 2 3/4 inches. Therefore, the rubber can not make contact with the axle and is being blocked by the U-Bolts that are too narrow. Am I missing something or doing something incorrectly? What U-Bolts and Plate would you recommend as I am having difficulty finding ones that will fit. Thank you very much for your time and I appreciate any and all advice.

Expert Reply:

The Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System # TTRA1702 doesn't have to fit between the u-bolts of the trailer axle. All that is required is that the plate attaches to the frame and the rubber spring touches the axles so you could mount is so that the rubber spring contacts the axle to the inside or the outside of the u-bolts on the axle if needed.
