Recommended Dual Hitch Receiver On 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan

Question:

thanks, thats what i was finding out on your site. I was looking also at doing what you told me here with a twist. Using the bracket, not sure if your site has it, the one which allows you to tow trailer and also have another carrier in it as well. A double. It goes into the receiver. No I do not have a roof rack, was also looking into putting a yakima rack on with a basket and a bracket that they sell on there web site which will lock the spare up there, but thats a very costly idea to do on the roof.

We do not offer a front-mount hitch designed to fit your 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. In my research I was unable to find any hitches designed for the front of your vehicle. Mounting a spare tire to the front of any vehicle runs the risk of blocking the air flow to the radiator and causing the vehicle to overheat. That can prove to be costly which everyone wants to avoid.

My best recommendation is to use a rear trailer hitch with a spare wheel attachment. I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # 13364. This is a Class lll hitch and has a 2 inch receiver opening.

I then recommend a hitch mounted spare tire carrier like the Curt Trailer Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier, part # C31006. This will attach to a 2 inch receiver opening.

Another option you may wish to consider is a spare tire carrier on the roof of your Grand Caravan. If you want to let me know if you have crossbars or any type of carrier on the roof I will make some recommendations that will work for you. We have spare tire carriers that attach to crossbars and also carriers that attach to cargo baskets on the roof of a vehicle.

We do offer dual hitch adapters that may do exactly what you are looking for. I recommend the Curt Dual Hitch Adapter, part # D-192. This adapter features dual 2 inch receiver openings. The top receiver can be used for a variety of hitch-mount accessories like the spare tire carrier mentioned above. The bottom receiver is the only one that can be used for towing. Please keep in mind that using any adapters in a trailer hitch will lower the towing weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent.
