We offer a wide range of roof racks to fit your 2013 Hyundai Sonata that has no rooftop rails or bars, and we can also assist you with selecting a compatible rooftop cargo basket.
First, for a rack please review the link at right which will show you all roof rack options from Thule, Yakima, Rhino-Rack and others. These racks include basic round- and square-bar types like the very cost-effective square-bar system from Rhino-Rack, their # SR1002. More advanced, costlier and quieter roof racks are also available, such as the Thule AeroBlade system, but this particular Rhino-Rack unit is by far the most economical option we offer.
With this rack in place you can use a cargo basket such as the Rhino Rack Roof Cargo Carrier # RMCB. The RMCB measures 47-3/16 long x 35-3/8 wide x 7-13/16-inches deep overall; inside dimensions are 41 long x 30-1/2 wide x 7-13/16-inches deep. The basket weighs 31-lbs.
Whenever using a rooftop cargo solution you need to keep in mind the total weight load of everything on the vehicle's roof. Vehicles will have a maximum rated roof weight capacity, noted in your owner's manual or available from your local dealership. You'll want to ensure that the combined weight of your roof rack (about 10-lbs in the case of the SR1002), your cargo basket (31-lbs for the RMCB) and the weight of your loaded cargo all together do not exceed the roof capacity.
Let's say your manual indicates a 120-lb roof weight rating. First we subtract the rack's 10-lbs, then the basket's 31-lbs. In this example, this means that you could safely load up to 79-lbs of cargo weight before reaching the roof's total weight limit.
Often customers that use a rooftop cargo carrier also choose a tire step. An item like # HE4040 that simply slips over a rear tire gives you a height advantage for loading and unloading your cargo. It folds up for easy storage inside the vehicle.
If you prefer a different brand or type of roof rack please let me know and I will be glad to recommend a cargo basket compatible with the rack you prefer.
