Recommended Trailer Hitch For 1996 Ford F-250 With 8 Inch Step Bumper
Question:
I have a 1996 F250 Powerstroke with a Luverne 8inch bumper. Do you have a Class IV 2inch receiver hitch that will fit this truck?

I spoke with my contact at B&W about your 1996 Ford F-250 Powerstroke.
They were unable to tell me anything about the Luverne 8 inch bumper you have on your F-250 but did offer some other advice. The trailer hitch designed to fit your truck I recommend is part # BWHDRH25198. This trailer hitch is a fit for a truck with a deep drop bumper. When I looked at the installation instructions it states that this trailer hitch will fit your year and model truck with a 10 inch drop bumper. My contact said the hitch is test-fit with a factory drop bumper and they could not verify it would work with an aftermarket bumper like yours.
The attach points should not interfere with the bumper and since it was designed to work with 10 inch drop bumpers, I feel it would work just fine with your truck. It may actually just have more clearance from the bottom of the bumper on your truck than it does with a factory 10 inch bumper. I pulled one of these hitches from our warehouse to take a couple of measurements for you. As the attached photo shows there is approximately 7-3/8 inches from the points that attach to the truck frame to the top of the receiver. If that clears the bottom of the bumper you have installed you should be good to go.
This is a Class V hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening. I have attached a link to an installation video for this hitch you can check out.
