Recommendation for Finding Brake Light Circuit for Installing Brake Controller in 1998 Chevy Truck

Question:

I can not find the wire coming from the brake switch to hardwire my brake controller for my 1998 Chevy truck. I have used a light tester, but every wire I have found that works the brakes also worked when the turn signals were activated. Can I hook it into the third brake light wire, which only comes on for braking?

That would be a great idea. The CHMSL or center high mount signal lamp circuit would be a great way to get the brake light circuit to install your brake controller like the part # 90885 as it only carries the brake light's signal without any turn signals. You may be able to find the circuit near the fuse box or at the third brake light.
