How to Find a Ball Mount with the Right Rise or Drop to Tow a Trailer Level with an ATV
Question:
I have a 2015 Polaris Sportsman 570 ATV to which I am trying to attach a Bush Buggy Utility Trailer. The ball mount fits into a 1-1/4inch Trailer Hitch with a 3/4inch Shank Diameter. I have been unable to find a mount that has the correct drop. Currently I have a 2-1/2inch on the ATV and the angle is still too extreme. I dont know if a 2-3/4inch would be enough or a 3-1/4inch too much and I cannot seem to find any on-line info that can help me. Hopefully you can provide some insight into this problem.

I will be happy to help. To determine the right amount of drop you will need the first step is to take a couple of measurements. Park the ATV and the trailer on level ground. Measure from the ground to the top of the receiver opening on the ATV. Then, level the trailer (as if you were towing it level) and measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler.
The difference is the amount of drop you will need (unless the trailer is higher then the difference would be the amount of rise you need).
For Class I, 1-1/4 inch trailer hitches we have ball mount # 3592 with 2-3/4 inch drop or 2-1/8 inch rise. And we have # C45022 with a 3-1/4 inch drop or 2-5/8 inch rise. I have included a link to the right to our help article on measuring to determine rise or drop.
